The Clean Horizons Project, a transformative initiative dedicated to cleaning beaches and recycling plastic waste into valuable items for vulnerable children, successfully launched its first beach cleanup event on January 11, 2025. The cleanup, held at the Kumasamba La Bamba Beach in Accra, began at 7:00 AM and brought together approximately 15 volunteers.
A collaborative effort between GIVE, Joy Sweets and Savories, Ms. Mama, and other sponsors, the Clean Horizons Project aims to tackle environmental pollution while fostering community involvement. Volunteers worked diligently to remove heaps of rubbish left by the beachside and collect litter strewn across the sand. Members of the local fishing community, along with the owner and workers of the beach, also joined the cleanup efforts, highlighting the shared commitment to maintaining a cleaner environment.
The project not only focuses on environmental restoration but also seeks to recycle collected plastic waste into useful items that can support vulnerable children. This dual-purpose approach aims to create a sustainable impact by addressing pollution and contributing to social welfare.
The Clean Horizons Project is gearing up for its next cleanup, scheduled for January 25, 2025. The organizers encourage individuals, groups, and corporate entities to join the initiative and contribute to creating cleaner beaches and a healthier ecosystem.
